broader topics covered this year. Discussion is not only about understanding the topics as a whole, but to try and formulate ways of dealing with problems identified and navigate the best way forward. Every solution has ups and downs, and every group member has different thought processes and pre-existing perspectives on issues. Hearing all of these in a forum means multiple facets are considered in order to test the weight of ideas and collectively build upon them, and often, an understood consensus is reached. The Athene Club is a co-curricular discussion group between Brisbane Girls Grammar School and Brisbane Grammar School. Members from Years 11 and 12 meet on school nights throughout the term to discuss social, political, philosophical or otherwise debatable issues in a forum modeled on those in Athenian times in ancient Greece. Named after the goddess Athena, the club seeks to promote wisdom, reason and inspiration. Senior students are asked to present a paper covering the facts and stances of a topic they are passionate about, and submit it for discussion by all members of the group. ANIME Anime Club is a cultural club which is open to all year levels. It is a friendly community that attracts girls who are interested in Anime, Cosplay and Asian pop culture. Filled with passion, we are a close-knit community that cry and laugh together while watching the big screen. This year we have watched several animes including Kamisama Hajimemashita, Your Name, Snow White with the Red Hair and Forest of the Fireflies. Our club welcomes any girl, regardless of how well they know Anime, to join. Anime not only encompasses the music and storyline but extends to the beautiful art that is Japanese animation. We host an annual drawing competition on Open Day to display the artistic talents among us. In addition, each year we team up with the Digital Photography Club for a cosplay photoshoot. Our meet-ups are on every Friday lunchtime where girls can relax into the colourful world that is Anime. LARRISA LAE (12G) AND PARIS WU (12O)
