GRAMMAR WOMEN

MOTHERS CLOTHING POOL REUNION In the 1970s a group of dedicated volunteers turned the School’s Clothing Pool into a one-stop shop for school uniforms. At the time, these ladies also provided much-needed emotional support and counsel for homesick boarders. After the graduation of their daughters, the women continued to meet regularly. Although now only four core members, the group continues to meet every Friday. The event was co-ordinated and chaired by Miss Stephanie Carter (2007) with guest speakers Ms Chantelle Day focusing on the needs and experiences of young adult carers and Miss Anthea Ingram speaking about fighting domestic violence for gender equality. All who attended, including a group of current students, were inspired and impressed by the work undertaken by these young women. The featured not-for-profit organisation was Share the Dignity who work to ensure the provision of feminine hygiene products to homeless women. It was uplifting to see so many contributing to the enrichment of our community. ‘SERVICE IS IN OUR DNA’ NCWQ/BGGSOGA YOUNG WOMEN’S FORUM In May this year, around 60 guests attended the annual Young Women’s Forum ‘ Service is in our DNA’ event.
