A SPORTING LIFE

We have a number of girls who are excelling in their chosen sporting field at Girls Grammar and we are proud to celebrate their achievements with them. Perhaps they will represent Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games or even at a future Olympics Games, but no matter what they achieve in their lives, they will come away with the skills, characteristics and values that are needed to live a life full of reward and value. Since these young women are just starting on their journey, they are well aware of the challenges ahead and we applaud them for taking on those challenges, knowing full well the levels of sacrifice, hours of hard work and persistent practice and the many battles they will face in order to perform at their very best. We wish them well, we celebrate their achievements and offer them all our support to continue to excel in their chosen sport. At the time of publishing this edition of the Grammar Gazette, the following Grammar girls had been selected to represent or had represented Australia at a national level. If any Gazette reader knows of other outstanding Grammar sportswomen (past or present), please advise Director of Sport, Mrs Sally Northcroft, SNorthcroft@BGGS.qld.edu.au

Rebecca has defended her title for three years and is a proud representative of Brisbane Girls Grammar School at all of her events. ELIZA KING (10E) Eliza recently swam against World Record holder, Cate Campbell at the Swimming Australia Grand Prix meet held during the winter break. MILAN AGNEW (12L) Milan competed in the OTU Sprint Triathlon Oceania Championships at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. Minna was selected to represent the Junior Australian Swimming team both at the Final Grand Prix and the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Hawaii. ABBY ANDREWS (11W) Abby was named in the Born 2000 (B00) — Australian Water Polo squad earlier this year, an important national athletic pathway.
