AUTHOR Ms Lea Walker Director of Development and Alumni OUR $1- MILLION + .$UILDING A TREE OF LEARNING' Capital Campaign has now reached a totai of $1,230,562 in gifts and pledges from 1'78 donor families. A beautiful tapestry of support continues to evolve through the genelosity of our diverse Girls Grammar community and each milestone reflects a wonderful story 'While we are a relatrvely new famiiy to Girls Grammar with our daughter in Year 9, we have another starting in 2016 and so will be here until 2021, We decided to pledge a percentage on top of our fees over our time here and became the fit.Z million gift which made it a iittle brt mole special for us as a famiiy.' Dr Fiona Reilly and Matthew Tobin. The gift that marked $t . t million was a legacy gift which an cld girl had made provision for in her Estate. 'When we heard of the bursary fund my sisters and I decided to honour our sister's memory, Marian Sullivan (Duke 1-981) with a gift through our famrly foundation, the Stan and Maureen Duke Foundation. Our gift was the $1 mrllion milestone gift which was loveIy to hear as we have many connections with Girls Grammar. In particuiar, my sisters and I ali attended Girls Grammar, and have daughters currently at BGGS with another one still to start We know rt will lead to girls receiving a Girls Grammar education who otherwise would not have had the opportunity.' Dr Susan Klng (1983) The milestone of $900,000 was achieved through the kindness of an old girl gifting an Aere Perennius Plaque 'As a proud old girl I am well aware of how the foundations of my education were flrmiy set at Girls Grammar and how they have served me weli. In deciding to establish an Aere Perennius plaque, I feel il is one way to give back, say 'thank you' and provide some words of wisdom to the current girls My gift being a milestone grft was just marvellous. Now I just need to decide on my quote | ' Dr Joan Lawrence AM (Lowrey 1951) Our goal is $1 5 million by 30 December 201'4 There are so many positive and interesting stories behind these wonderful gifts and many of the Girls Grammar famrly - parents, oid giris, trustees and staff - are represented in the 231" supporters listed opposite who donated to any project last financial year. To all donors, we extend a very big thank you from our giris, today and tomorrow, as these milestones only happen because you have made a gift and a1l gifts make a difference.
