Fundraising to support the Creative Learning Centre is continuing. The October high tea held at High Societea Teahouse in Clayfield was thoroughly enjoyed by more than sixty Old Girls, family and friends. In response to the many requests we have received we will hold another Old Girls Association

high tea on 27 May. Many of those who were unable to attend the event gave donations and in doing so they have contributed to the future of Girls Grammar. Thanks go to Old Girls Fabienne Templeman (1993) and Sally Vickery (1963), and Brisbane Grammar School Old Boy Michael Steindl, for their gifts of raffle and lucky door prizes. Committee members, Stacey Olsen and Cynthia Collyer have had the privilege of receiving an invitation to join a special group for lunch — the class of 1934. This group of Old Girls meet several times each year and as part of an ongoing project Stacey and Cynthia will gather information for Recollections of Grammar , a collection of past students’ memories of their school days. An event that now provides enormous mutual benefits to both the School and OGA is the provision of supper at the Gala Concert held at City Hall each October. This is a frantic, yet enjoyable thirty minutes during interval. The Association would welcome any assistance or ideas for future fundraising or social activities. We appreciate the continued inclusion of OGA in the School’s current activities and have enjoyed attending the Welcome to New Parents Cocktail Party, the five-year Reunion, Final Year 12 Assembly, Valedictory Dinner, Speech Day, Volunteers’ Cocktails, Open Day, Gala Concert and other forums in the School calendar. The Chair of the Board and the Principal participate in many OGA events and both Dr Hirst and Ms Bell joined us for Christmas Dinner, where we farewelled Dr Hirst on her retirement from the Board of Trustees. We presented her with a watercolour print of the Main Building, as thanks from OGA for her work during her stewardship. Committee members have attended a number of Queensland National Council of Women events. OGA has been an affiliate of QNCW since 1912. An upcoming date for your diary is a theatre outing to the performance of Carousel , on 20 October, at the Twelfth Night Theatre.
