Past and present students, families, staff and supporters are warmly invited to attend a community day at the School’s Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre (Marrapatta) on Sunday 17 June 2018. Outdoor education has been an important element of the School since 1978. The Marrapatta campus, located in Imbil in the beautiful Mary Valley north of Brisbane, first opened its doors to Grammar girls in 1987. The purpose-built facility allows students to expand their classroom learning to focus on three key areas for growth: personal discovery and reflection, social development, and environmental appreciation and awareness. At Marrapatta Open Day, families will get a taste of the experiences that their daughters have while on-site, by touring the dorms, feeding the animals, meeting staff and viewing displays that showcase the students’ activities and achievements. Visitors will also be able to explore the recently opened Dorothy Hill Observatory— the first of its kind at a girls’ school in Australia.
