Basketball

It’s fair to say that the 2024 Basketball season has been a ball. Every Friday night was a highlight of the week, with our Basketball girls being able to compete and have fun with their friends and work together to play their best against the other schools. Our coordinator, Ms Amy Penberthy, does so much behind the scenes, and we really couldn’t do it without her. We are also grateful to have had the assistance and enthusiasm of our amazing manager, Mrs Betty-Anne Briggs, and the continual support and advice of Mr Stephan Fogarty.

It has been such a great six years of Basketball at BGGS, and we are so proud to have been this year’s Basketball Captains. We wish all Basketball students the best of luck for the 2025 season. Claire Blucher (12W) and Helen Mellick (12R) Basketball Captains

This year, BGGS came away with some incredible results, with seven out of our 11 teams placing in the top three, and three teams coming away with the premiership. The hard work put in at training—which commenced at the beginning of Term 1—has certainly paid off and many noticeable improvements have been made within each team.

Cricket

The Cricket season concluded with remarkable achievements across various divisions. The Division 1 team remained undefeated and were joint Premiers, showcasing exceptional consistency and teamwork. The Opens team secured a respectable fourth place, highlighting their dedication and skill throughout the season. In Division 2, the Blue team emerged as champions with outstanding performance and teamwork, while the White team were impressive runners-up, always in contention for the top spot. The Red team achieved a commendable fourth place, displaying tenacity and fighting spirit, and the Green team finished sixth, showing resilience

and sportsmanship despite tough competition. All teams worked exceptionally well together, making training sessions every Monday fun and engaging. The competitive games on Wednesdays were marked by mutual support and camaraderie. This season has been a testament to the hard work and dedication of all our Cricket teams, reflecting their love for the game. We look forward to seeing these successes built upon in future seasons.
