Gala

The Brisbane Girls Grammar School Gala Concert mesmerised audiences with an enchanting evening of music and artistry, celebrating this year's theme: Portraits . Parents, students and guests gathered for a night filled with captivating performances Performances from the Chamber Strings, Symphonic Winds, Massed Choir, Big Band, Percussion Ensemble 1, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Singers, and Grammar Singers captivated audiences, transporting them through vivid musical journeys. Throughout the night, several soloists delivered standout performances, including Scout Sommerfeld (12L) in Grammar Singers, Lisa Walsham (12R) in Symphonic Winds, and Emily Telford (12W) in Symphony Orchestra, each adding their own unique talent to the concert.

The mesmerising music was elevated by Ms Suzannah Ferry’s captivating visual artwork displayed across the QPAC stage. Her stunning original portraits were beautifully weaved through the program adding a visual depth. Together, the music and artwork crafted an immersive experience that enriched the atmosphere of the evening. The Klais Grand Organ in the QPAC Concert Hall was another exciting element of the night, played by organist Dr Phillip Gearing. Accompanying both the Chamber Strings and Symphony Orchestra, the organ's rich, resonant tones blended beautifully with the strings and wind instruments adding a layer of grandeur to the performances. Just as the audience thought the concert was over, they were invited to join in an encore of Sweet Caroline . The hall came alive as voices from every corner joined in, united by the infectious joy of the song. It was a fitting, unforgettable end to a night of incredible performances. Alyssa Godinho (12B)
