INTERHOUSE CROSS COUNTRY The 51st Interhouse Cross Country Carnival was arguably the toughest
sporting event of the year, that everyone— of any level or ability—had the opportunity to participate in. A rainbow sea of sports uniforms, activewear and dress-ups drifted across the hills and valleys of Victoria Park, as BGGS' runners completed the 3 km course under the glorious autumn sun. Whether you ran, jogged, walked, or skipped the course, all competitors had one thing in common: how far to the finish line! For some, it was a day to conquer their goals and aim for the sky, whilst for others it was all about fun times with friends and building core School memories. This year’s winners included: 12 years, Allegra Fotheringham (7G); 13 years, Zoe Johnson (8W); 14 years, Fiona Huang (9L); 15 years, Zoe McElwaine (10G); 16 years, Jemima Morten (11M); 17 years/Open, Lilly Horsburgh (12O). Zoe McElwaine was the Interhouse Cross Country Champion with the fastest individual time on the day of 10 min 49 sec. Mackay House and Woolcock House were joint first-place winners on 252 points, with Griffith just two points behind. The tight competition highlighted to us all the importance of every student participating, as ultimately every point counts.
The running of the Cross Country Carnival involved an extraordinary effort by one and all, with special thanks to the following people: Ms Gooden; Mrs McCarthy; Ms Taylor; Mr Mulligan; Coach Chris Gale; medical staff; as well as the Heads of House; House Captains; and Sports Captains. Overall, we would like to congratulate everyone on their tremendous efforts, competing and supporting each other with true joy and passion. It was brilliant to see the spirit of Girls Grammar as we all embodied the blue and blazed it through. Sienna Anderson (12M) and Lilly Horsburgh (12O)
