FROM THE SPORTS CAPTAINS
spirit, and our athletes couldn't have done better. Not only did our supporters set fire to the stands, but every athlete fanned the Girls Grammar flame; their energy and enthusiasm made 2023 the bluest of all time. One of the best things to come out of the 2023 sports season was the introduction of ‘True Blue’. By providing an opportunity to attend ‘True Blue’ verified sports rounds, promoted by sports hype videos, the School’s passion for sport was solidified, fostering a sense of camaraderie within the overall School community. Some of our most memorable moments from 2023 were watching our athletes’ hard work and training pay off, with outstanding results all around. Particular standouts included the ‘True Blue’ rounds at the Autumn and Winter fixtures, QGSSSA Cross Country, Rhythmic Gymnastics, and the 2023 Cricket results. The large supporter numbers at these events created an electric atmosphere, sparking our spirit for sport. While we couldn't be prouder of the achievements BGGS has made this year, we hope all our Girls Grammar athletes came away from this year feeling proud of themselves and continue fuelling the fire into the future. As well as all sports coordinators and coaches, we want to extend a special thanks to Director of Sport, Ms Gooden, for her dedication and support, which contributed to the BGGS 2023 sporting year being one to remember. Finally, we thank our athletes for their commitment and hard work this year. It has been an honour to lead BGGS Sport in 2023. Siddhi Bhandarker (12W) and Ella Coltzau (12R) Sports Captains
Our motto for this year was ‘Fuel the Fire, #BurnBlue ’, reflecting our athletes' drive, dedication, and determination to make Girls Grammar Sport burn brighter than ever in 2023. The goal for BGGS Sport this year was to continue fuelling the Girls Grammar
ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
After the cancellation of the previous three Artistic Gymnastic seasons, it was very exciting to know the 2023 season was scheduled to happen. The BGGS gymnasts took full advantage of this and set out to enjoy every moment of the season. All girls worked extremely hard throughout training in Term 4 of 2022 and Term 1 of 2023. Progress for all gymnasts was evident during this training period and the team was set for a great performance. The 2023 season culminated in the QGSSSA championship held on 28 March at Clayfield College. Eleven teams represented BGGS at the competition. Every team performed excellently, which was reflected in the impressive results achieved by the BGGS teams. B grade, C grade (Team 1), D grade (Division 2), Year 7 team (Division 1), and Year 7 (Division 2, Team 3) teams all placed within the top three of their respective divisions.
We would like to congratulate all the girls for their hard work and determination demonstrated this year. It has been a great pleasure to be captains of such a wonderful group of girls. Finally, a huge thank you must go to our incredible coordinator, Mrs Kregenbrink, whose constant support and encouragement were invaluable and thoroughly
appreciated by the team. Jemima Faint (11M) and Adeline Tan (11O) Artistic Gymnastics Captains
