ARTS
ARTS RETROSPECTIVE when we all come together, is enough to inspire anyone—whether you’re a supporter, a performer, or an artist—to create something beautiful. With this,
The participation, passion, and love that we’ve seen across the arts this year has been heartwarming and incredibly rewarding for everyone involved. Taking this into consideration, we think that this has been one of the best years in the arts we have ever seen. With the work that our BGGS community rose to attribute, for charity, competition or just for fun, we gave it our all, pouring our heart out to any stage, lectern or canvas our creativity met! As the Arts Captains, we are so undoubtedly proud of all the astonishing hard work that was contributed and works of art that were composed. As we pass on the torch of Arts Captains, we are certain that we’re leaving it in safe hands; we’ve seen the passion that all students have dedicated to their craft, and couldn’t be happier with the state of BGGS Arts. Thank you for making this year one we will truly never forget, all because each and every one of you used the flame in our hearts, to Fire Up the Arts .
we created the motto, ‘With flame in our hearts, let's fire up the Arts’ , to encapsulate everything we wanted for the year. Our motto aimed to unleash the passion within anyone in the BGGS community to inspire each and every one of us to create moving pieces of work. Igniting the ‘flame in our hearts’, we showcased our passion in the purest way, and expressed our love for the arts by staying true to ourselves. Aiming to ‘fire up the arts’ by spotlighting the talent, creativity, and passion of those around us, we strove to give everyone the chance to be truly seen and appreciated in whatever artistic endeavour they may pursue. Of course, we were prepared for a challenge. Times have changed in recent years, but we were ready to fight back, working our hardest to turn Visual Art, Debating, Music and Drama back into the social, inspiring and gratifying art forms we once knew and loved them for. We saw record numbers of students coming along to their friends' performances or exhibits, supporting and encouraging them to continue doing what they love.
This year as the 2023 Arts Captains, we sought to highlight three main goals: inspiration; support; and passion. We wanted to reignite passion for the arts, and bring forward the spirit of all the incredible people in our School. We believe that the spirit in our hearts,

ART ACTIVITIES
Visual Art this year has been ‘on fire’. In Term 1, the year began with an Art Café, marking the first of its kind since 2013. This event took a tour around the School to see some of its remarkable art collection. This was followed by an enchanting art walk to the ‘Air’ exhibition at GOMA. This momentum was kept alive in the second term with a stunning art walk to the State Library of Queensland, where we explored the ‘Meet the Artists’ exhibit. The Art Café tradition carried on with an amazing talk from artist Dr Julie Fragar, who guided us through her astounding works. To draw this year of extraordinary Visual Art events to a close, we toured two captivating solo exhibitions by eX de Medici and Michael Zavros at GOMA. The year finished on a high note with a memorable Art Café talk from Zavros himself. He provided us with a comprehensive understanding of his works and how they were made. We owe this incredible year of Art Cafés to the efforts of Ms Hine, Mr Pincott, Ms Eadie and Mx Glover, who organised these amazing events for Visual Art this year.
