YEAR 9 HPE

I n HPE this year, we were faced with the challenge of home learning. Despite this, we were given the opportunity to stay fit with the at-home workouts provided by HPE staff. In the health component of HPE, we were educated on the effects of alcohol consumption and drug use, as well as the biomechanical principles relating to sport, which allowed us to make the right decision regarding our well-being, while enhancing our skill performance in sport. In the physical component of HPE, we took part in a range of sports, including some we had not played before, which widened our skill range and improved our physical health. One of our favourite units was Volleyball, as the sport allowed us to build on our teamwork skills and the entire class was able to work together. Overall, Year 9 HPE has been an enjoyable and memorable experience that has brought our Year level together through team sports. Chloe Burke (9H) and Emma Murphy (9M)

Y ear 10 Physical Education (PE) has exposed us to a variety of interesting and engaging topics that have not only enhanced our athletic ability, but also our knowledge of the theory behind physical activity. We have studied a large range of topics throughout the year, from sports acquisition to lifesaving. Due to COVID-19, the PE program was adapted and altered throughout the year to reflect the uncertain times. Our favourite aspect of PE this year was the aerobics unit. Even though it was challenging at times adjusting to Zoom classes while attempting to learn new aerobics skills over a video call, it was an interesting and exciting experience, nonetheless. Once we returned to learning on-campus, we continued the unit with partners, further developing new physical skills and incorporating our creativity through choreography. This year our PE classes have allowed us to step out of our comfort zone in new environments as well as benefit us not just during school but also outside the classroom. Overall, Year 10 PE has been an engaging and fun experience and has evidently benefited students greatly. Emma Blucher (10W) and Maya Sudrikku (10R) YEAR 10 PHYSICAL EDUCATION
