SOFTBALL
T his year the BGGS Softball team had another unforgettable season. With the Senior Competition starting in Term 1 and the Junior Competition in Term 4, our players have been hitting home runs all year round. It was fantastic to see so many new and old faces signing up for Softball, with girls displaying professionalism and passion for the sport both on and off the field. As the season progressed our skills improved, relationships between team mates strengthened and lifelong memories were made. The dedication and commitment of each and every girl was commendable and we hope that this will continue next season.
Special mention to our coaches and score keepers, Ms Bernard, Mrs Cooke, Mrs Dabelstein and Mr Martineau, and our amazing Softball Coordinator, Ms McCorley, who was with us every step of the way, assisting and supporting us each and every Saturday. Congratulations to all girls who represented the School throughout the seasonand special mention to the 8A team for winning the division. We feel very fortunate to have been part of the BGGS Softball community and are excited to participate in the sport again next year. Tara Bashirzadeh (11R) and Lucinda Myers (11W) CAPTAINS
SWIMMING
P reparation for the 2020 Swimming season began early, with the girls in the pool and training in Term 3 last year. This meant we had added endurance under our belt and our dives and finishes had been perfected in readiness for the QGSSSA Swimming Carnival held at Chandler on Wednesday 4 March. Our swimmers performed well at the event. The individual age groups made significant contributions to our final result, with the 12, 13 and 14 Years age groups coming away with 4th place, the 16 Years placing 5th, and the 17 Years and over group placing a close 6th—all fantastic achievements. BGGS placed fifth in the competition. Special congratulations must go to Niamh Bedggood (10O) and Sarah McLeod (12E) for placing first in their respective individual events. Congratulations also to the 15 Years swimmers who placed an outstanding 3rd in their age group.
We must thank our Swimming Coordinator, Ms Nunan, for her organisation and expertise throughout the season, our Head Coach Ms Brownsdon, for the continuous encouragement, and Director of Sport, Ms Duffy, for her constant support. This Swimming season has seen some remarkable performances and the 2021 team is looking better than ever. Sarah Mcleod (12E) and Lauren Stacey (12L) CAPTAINS
