DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
T his year I have realised the importance of small, everyday moments. They define who we are and build our relationships, but they can be easily forgotten if not captured. This is what the Digital Photography Club strived to achieve in 2020—capturing the subject, moment, or theme in the best possible light. In Term 1 we photographed entries for the ATOM Photography competition. The theme was ‘Fragility’, and everyone brought in some objects such as broken glass, plants, butterflies, and fruit to experiment with on the DSLR cameras and lightboxes. It was such a fun and interesting challenge to capture these objects’ unique aspects! In Term 2 we used our mobile phones to capture abstract and refraction photography. It was a great way to engage closely with our environment. In light of this year’s events, the annual Artfest
GoMobile Photography competition’s theme was ‘The Unexpected’. There were creative and out of the box entries (even from staff members!). Congratulations to this year’s winner, Ayisha del Rosario (9W). In Term 3, we tried out the new light painting brushes. Figuring out how to create certain patterns was a challenge, but seeing the end results was gratifying. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with Kleio Society and photograph ancient artefacts. It was challenging to illuminate the objects in a way that maintained their texture and interesting features, but it was a great learning opportunity.
