YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS C I n Year 12 Mathematics C, we were able to develop our mathematical prowess by extending the knowledge and skills acquired in Mathematics B and learning about several new and exciting topics. As we battled our way through vectors, complex number systems, matrices and conics, students gained irreplaceable problem-solving skills that will benefit them for years to come. Although Mathematics C is renowned as one of the more academically challenging subjects, the fascinating complexity of the subject coupled with the satisfaction of mastering complex concepts YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS B M athematics B provides girls with a comprehensive understanding of mathematical and algebraic concepts. This year, functions were a focal point of our studies, with logarithmic, trigonometric, and polynomial functions being investigated. By exploring the applications and subsequent importance of these functions in everyday life, we learned to resolve complex problems by designing models for real-life scenarios such as tidal changes and financial problems. Girls extended their knowledge on topics introduced in Year 11 including optimisation and derivatives, and used these skills to gain insight into topics such as integration and rates of change. Girls also learned statistical analysis. Each student in the course has gained a thorough understanding of multiple topics across a broad range of skillsets and gained the confidence to approach a range of complicated mathematical problems in the future. Nina Hadzivukovic (12H) and Zoe Wenck (12L) YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS A T his year, Mathematics A covered a broad and captivating range of topics, from networks to land levelling, to the mathematics behind queuing. Throughout the year, each of these topics has been presented to students in such a way that answers the most common question in the field of mathematics, ‘how is this relevant in the real world?’ We have loved learning concepts that we will apply to our lives after school such as how much does it cost to buy or build a house, and the smartest way to invest money. We now understand what Pythagoras meant when he said ‘Number rules the universe’, and will certainly apply the learning experiences from this year with us into the next chapter of our lives.
