JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) launched in Term 3 with a performance by the Sherwood Arrows, a junior skipping team who act as ambassadors for JRFH. Girls Grammar has been involved in the Jump Rope for Heart program for 23 years, providing a fun and physical way to raise awareness and fundraise to fight heart diseases. At the end of Term 3, Year 7 students participated in the Jump Rope for Heart ‘Jump Off Day’. The girls donned their house colours and hit the gym floor for 55 minutes of skipping. While the ‘jump off’ was an excellent exercise to increase heart rates, the students were skipping for a much greater purpose—raising money for the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation. The money raised is donated to the National Heart Foundation of Australia to support lifesaving research, and work to improve heart disease prevention and care for all Australians. GIRLS GRAMMAR AMBASSADORS In 2018, Student Ambassadors assisted with a variety of events including Parent Seminars, House Afternoon Teas and future student enrolment interviews. As ambassadors, we have loved being able to give parents and students an insight into the School and share our Girls Grammar experience. For the majority of Student Ambassadors, the enrolment interviews are a highlight of the events calendar. Students enjoy being able to meet the next generation of Grammar girls and give them a taste of Grammar life. After their interviews, the Year 6 girls appear more confident and ready to become a ‘Grammar sister’. For Emily Cox (10L) interacting with staff has been a highlight of being a Student Ambassador: ‘I found meeting the wonderful and supportive staff from the Communications, Enrolment and Events team inspiring. It made me very grateful for the work that goes on behind the scenes of events, which has allowed me to see a new side of the School.’ Representing Girls Grammar through the Student Ambassadors program has been an enlightening experience. We believe this opportunity has helped us broaden our perspectives and develop a range of communication and interpersonal skills. We look forward to

continuing our work in this group next year. Caileigh Jell (10L) and Nina Obermair (9G)
