YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS A

YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS B

Mathematics A at Brisbane Girls Grammar School has provided girls with the necessary skills for the real world. Financing, networking and land measurements have been a few of the practical yet enjoyable topics that have formed the basis of this loved subject. Once again the shared classroom dynamic has created an environment where a wider and more diverse group of girls can contribute ideas and thoughts. It has enabled for twice the amount of teacher support, ensuring girls get the best opportunity to learn and understand complex topics. Mathematics A is a thoroughly enjoyable subject that has enriched all girls learning experiences. A subject where Maths can be fun.

In Year 12 Maths B, calculus was our primary focus. The word ‘integration’ has long been a mystery – a scary term that for junior students is symbolic of all difficult maths. This year we’ve put a ‘face’ to the name, and learnt how to integrate functions, applying our knowledge to practical situations such as finding the number of bricks required to make a tunnel, or the volume of water that will fill a swimming pool. As well as integration, we have covered topics such as optimisation, probability, and trigonometry. The Maths B course has been extremely worthwhile and enjoyable, and we feel that the content we have learnt will carry across into various areas in our future studies.

YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS C Year 12 Maths C has constantly encouraged us to work hard and develop skills far beyond the mathematics classroom. It has motivated us to push ourselves and achieve things that we thought were previously unachievable. Whether it be solving a difficult maths problem or completing a challenging assignment, the critical thinking skills that we have developed through our two years of this subject, will inevitably be beneficial in future endeavours. Maths C was one of the most enjoyable subjects. Going to class was something that we looked forward to each day and after many classes, a newfound appreciation for Maths was fostered.
