YEAR 7 THRIVE I had a lot of fun at Marrapatta and it was really good to learn about something new for a change. I found that one of the main things was learning to work together in a group of people. It was really fun although we were in teams with people we weren’t so familiar with, but we got to know them better. A great tip is to be organised, when you are at Marrapatta you really learn to be independent and look after yourself. You also get a little bit used to the bugs and animals. Marrapatta has one of the best views of stars in the night sky, they can be seen clearly unlike the city. A few challenges I faced was building the raft because it involved a lot of team work and sometimes things went wrong but we got through it. The Marrapatta staff there were really nice and would show you what to do and when. Marrapatta was one of my greatest experiences and I can’t wait to go back again.

I thought Marrapatta was a great way to see everyone bring out the best in themselves and others. It was an adventure from the very first minute I arrived. I thought it was a challenge at some points and sometimes it was all about learning something brand new which in some ways you can learn from challenges too. I loved being so close to wildlife and animals. I especially liked the chickens and alpacas. I definitely thought that cooking dinner was a challenge. Even though we had a group to help us it was all about preparation and strategic planning. I loved being able to have the responsibility of cleaning up after our selves. It really prepares us for when we have to clean up after ourselves. I think that when we were building our raft it was all about problem solving and working together with different people. I really enjoyed looking at the stars on campout so as a suggestion I think it would be pretty cool if everyone got to do mindfulness and stare at the stars. Thank you so much for my amazingly adventurous trip to Marrapatta.

YEAR 8 DISCOVERY Four days jam packed with activities, cooking and exploring, Marrapatta was amazing, as we bonded and new friendships were forming. Camp was a great bonding experience for all of 8D and the theme really got all of our class closer as one. I can’t wait to go again next year!’

This year Marrapatta was so exciting and challenging. I have made new friends in my core class and tightened other friendships as well. As a class we have got many different memories to look back on. Marrapatta this year was a very enjoyable experience from creek cruising, singing around the fire, the sugar glider and canoeing. “
