ACCOUNTING YEAR 11 ACCOUNTING ANNA LAMBERT (11G)
Accounting in Year 11 this year was fun but very challenging. As this was the first year we were able to study Accounting, the two classes started off with some of the basics in Term I before working our way up in difficulty throughout the year. Some of the concepts that we learnt in Accounting consisted of the ability to form a general ledger, general journal, trial balance, bank reconciliation statement, cash receipts journal and cash payments journal. These processes were taught throughout each of our classes and then assessed at the end of each term based on the particular and relevant criteria. Overall, Accounting is an interesting, informative and valuable subject which applies to every day real world situations.
YEAR 12 ACCOUNTING COURTNEY HILL (12R) As a senior subject, Accounting gives students the opportunity to create a stable base for a future in business and finance, or simply broaden their knowledge of accounting concepts and principles. Throughout my senior year I have had the opportunity to experience both the practical and theoretical fields of accounting through studies of accrual accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow statement evaluation and budgeting. I have particularly enjoyed learning how to use the MYOB accounting application, a piece of software frequently used for recording
transactions and creating financial reports in real- world businesses. The large amount of real-world experience I have gained throughout my time as an Accounting student has given me the skills to move confidently into the next chapter of my life, whilst pursuing my interest in a business and finance-related career. Independent of my career choice, the knowledge I have acquired throughout my time studying Accounting has left me with a skill set that is likely to benefit me in the future.
