in the Aggregate Trophy with 614 points, just 27 points behind third place, and a strong 85 points ahead of fifth place. Despite never having touched an oar before the season started, the Year 8 rowers shone to place second overall in their year level. All of the podium finishes were achieved from the Year 8-10 crews so the future for BGGS rowing is looking very bright! This is an enormous improvement all-round on our 2014 results, and could not have been achieved without every rower, and coach giving it their absolute all. A season of rowing requires dedication, determination, crew bonds and trust, not to mention a competitive drive and passion. We believe that every crew has shown these qualities this season and we are very proud of them all. We have loved our time rowing at BGGS and we hope that every rower has had the same amazing experience. Thank you to everyone who has supported the BGGS rowing programme, we are incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity.

The 2015 Rowing season was outstanding as the programme continually improves. All rowers, coaches and supporters have put in 110 per cent effort and we are so proud of all the milestones we have achieved together this year. This hard work and commitment paid off at Head of the River, where 125 girls in twenty-five crews raced proudly in the Grammar Blue. Twenty-three of these crews earned their place in the A final, and an outstanding nine of these crews finished on the podium. Overall BGGS finished fourth

SOFTBALL PHOEBE COLLINS (12G) AND ANGELA GOGGIN (12G), CAPTAINS

The 2015 BGGS softball season was extremely successful, and one that both Phoebe and I are honoured to have captained. We are proud to

acknowledge the astounding results achieved by our teams, which began with premierships for the 9A, 9B and 10A teams, fourth for 8B and fifth for 8A in the 2014 Junior season played in late October. We launched the 2015 season with our motto ‘Shine bright on the diamond’ in the hope we would inspire the team to achieve stellar results throughout the senior season. This year, our Year 10 cohort joined the ranks of senior softball teams at BGGS and contributed well to the season. At the conclusion of our Saturday morning games in March, the Senior As successfully defended their pennant for the third year in a row, the Senior Bs also won their competition and the Senior B2s finished fourth. The Open Team admirably took out the Open Pennant and finished as undefeated premiers. BGGS Softball in 2015 had some great statistics with an outstanding 57 strikeouts and 105 runs. Across all teams we achieved an impressive season total 405 runs scored for and 70 runs against Girls Grammar.

The efforts of our coordinators Mr Woods and Ms Rees, coaches, families and staff were greatly appreciated and this support was clearly reflected in the girls’ commitment and accomplishments. As we welcome our new Year 7, 8 and 9 teams for the late 2015 season, we hope that our success in softball at Brisbane Girls Grammar School continues for many seasons to come.
