Our focus this year has been on enriching girls' technology learning through providing more opportunities outside our core and elective studies. We have taken part in several industry and tertiary events including, Go for IT gURL. the national educational Digital Careers launch, and the National Computer Science School. We also provided guests for lectures and keynotes in women in technology, engineering, integrated design and communication Technology Studies students received awards in this year's Queensland Young CT Explorers and in the Robocup Challenge. We also restructured our curriculum to Integrate more cross-disciplinary analysis and to establish a theme for our annual Digital Design Showcase. 'Women Warriors of Folklore' was selected as a stimulus for the girls to reflect and investigate the misrepresentation of women in pop-culture

Year 9 MIT started off with typography, which had all of the students using different objects and pictures to create the letter they intended to represent. The GameMaker unit had us creating games straight out of our imagination! Everyone is eagerly looking forward to robotics later this year. where we'll get to pit robots against each other. MIT has expanded my technological skills enormously and is one of my favourite subjects

Year 8 Multimedia and Interactive Technology started off with using design principles and layout compositions using Adobe Photoshop. We are now designing our own website in HTML and integrating our vector and bitmap images. We are also covering essential skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I have found MIT very enjoyable and I am looking forward to doing MIT next year in Year 9

In our Innovative Design classes we have been working on a bus shelter design, a project that runs for the year looking at how to make strong secure structures that are stable. We started by sketching our designs. then we moved into creating virtual model. By seeing this structure as a 30 image. we were able to have a better idea of whether the design worked and what held the structure together. We have started to create a scaled model of our shelter from card. I have found the 30 modelling very interesting as my design has really come to life
