As Sunday 25 August approached, four teams prepared for a fierce battle of wits, Each armed with a challenge. we made our way to the OptiMINDs arena Teams were made up of students from different Year levels and Houses. This gave the girls not only a chance to meet and social ise with girls that they had never met before, but also to combine ideas in order to create what was to become our final product There were three main challenges in which we participated throughout the day. These included Social Science. Language. Literature. and Science Engineering Our teams chose to accept the Social Science and Science Engineering challenges and all rose to the occasion We used several different skills. including time management. organisation, preparation. script writing. teamwork, and drama skills. as well as knocking down towers, communicating with pigeons. writing new laws and optimum creative thinking One of the teams (Social Science Team 3) gave an excellent presentation on how worldwide telecommunications had disappeared. and just how creative Iy we could survive and flourish without it The team received honors, proving just how creative and talented our students are, and what teamwork and cooperation can produce Our final challenge was to invent a new law in a matter of minutes, and to show how this unwritten law applies Each team came up with a solution as varied and creative as the students participating With another year of OptiMINDS under our belts. we all look forward to the challenges ahead with renewed confidence and creativity

The proceeds from all fundraising went towards Libellum's charity, the indigenous Literacy Foundation. an organisation that aims to raise literacy levels of indigenous Australians living in remote communities We have been extremely privileged to be the Libellum leaders for 2013. working alongside the inspiring Miss Christopherson to promote reading in the School and in our wider community and we hope that Libellum continues to ignite students' love of literature. To read or not to read is not a question
