A;;^^T!^'ONOl\/IY CLUB in 2013 the Astronomy Club had a new telescope, a Celestron 20 cm reflector to use on viewing nights. This allowed the members to look at the moon, planets, stars and notable objects in the night sky. Each participant learnt a wealth of knowledge, such as how to use a telescope, how to identify planets of the solar system and how to focus on nearby galaxies. Each student thoroughly enjoyed these nights and, despite the bright lights of inner Brisbane, many objects were seen and appreciated Members also constructed models of planetary spacecraft. The use of this activity acted as a trigger for participants to learn about solar system exploration Teachers will display these models as part of the Year 7 curriculum in 2015

1< LEIO ^^^OCIETY The Kleio Society consists of a small group of Ancient History enthusiasts who meet on a regular basis to discuss different topics from the ancient world. This year. Kleio is working in conjunction with the R. D. Milns Antiquities Museum at The University of Queensland to present an exhibit based on the 'Seven Ages of Man. ' The exhibit explores life in ancient Greece and Rome as individuals passed through the stages of infancy, childhood, the lover, the soldier. the justice, old age and extreme old age. The members of the group chose an artefact from the museum that represents one of these stages and wrote a short description of the object, linking it back to the theme of the project. The exhibit was unveiled at the R. D. Milns Antiquities Museum in Term 4
On the 20 August, the Kleio Society visited the Antiquities museum. and we were given a guided tour of various Roman, Greek and Egyptian artefacts. We were also able to analyse small artefacts up close as we decided whether they were suitable for us to study for our topic. The museum guide was very helpful as we were constantly asking questions about the dating and the use of the artefacts. We enjoyed looking into the Roman weaponries by observing and analysing various types of swords. which allowed us to gain a thorough understanding of Roman warfare. We were very grateful for the opportunity to visit the Antiquities museum. and thoroughly enjoyed this experience
In coming years, we hope that E-Sports will continue to be a fun and engaging activity for the school community
