The Land of the Sun Remember the days when the flowers grew, Alongside the road with the morning dew, And we'd walk down and pick them one by one, As we were greeted by the morning sun Remember the days when we'd walk up the drive, With a hop and a skip and a wonderful stride, And mother would greet us with a gleam in her eye, And she closed off the kitchen with its smell of pie Remember the days when we'd sit at the door, And think of how much it was a dreadful bore, 'til out came the smell of hot cross buns, Each with a cross for us, three, two, one Remember the days when the fairies still lived, Down in the garden with the gnomes where they hid, And how we would dance with the fairies and gnomes, Until we were called back to our homes Remember the days when the soap still smelled, Of Mother's loving arms as with them she held, Each warm body as it stepped Into those Amazing arms with love as their clothes Remember the days when dinners would feed all, From our lowly home to the rich Pall Mall, How Mother would serve us our own special share, Then leave it to us to take all that we cared Remember the days when Father came home, With a smile on his face just back from Rome, How he'd share with us stories of Julius Caesar. And-leave us-all hangingfrom his well drawn teaser Remember the days when love flowed strong, Between father and mother and daughter and son,
Her grey dress flapping, around long dark legs Layers of downy feathers, Cover a gracious body with ease Her legs, hiding many an Imperfection, Do well though, for keeping her up Above the world, she'll stay aloft, As she dares you to confront. A ballerina's poise an ease, With your own great lumps of lead In awe you'll watch her run and glide, With agility to be gasped over She'll shock your senses and make you speechless, While her spell holds you in Its sway But as the magic of it fades, You'll start to notice little blunders, Within her quaint routine She'll run you down and round and round Before she sees another, More interesting acquaintance in the shadow of a tree Her steps may falter, And through her spell you'll see - Her head is smaller than The brain of a Chimpanzee
She's tricked you all, Right from the start To make you think That what she's not 15 what she is A Right Proper Lady,
The Emu
And how we would all unite under one, Adoring Father in the land of the Sun
Before the storm when all is calm The birds are safely in their nest The storm now comes despite my qualm
The storm is on Its quest As the skies are darkening The trees are gently rustling To greet the skies awakening
And you can see the sky 15 bustling The winds are ranging all around The rain comes falling down The land beneath us now is drowned As the storm sends down a frown The ground 15 covered now with debris As the rain patters on the ground The storm 15 hissing now with glee For all that it has found But now the storm has gone away To come again another day
