We helped organise two teachers-versus-students
sporting games. The teachers team, the BGGS All Stars, were
the Importance of a healthy lifestyle This year we have met weekly to plan fundraising initiatives and encourage the wider school community to become more aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. One of our significant contributions this year has been the Involvement of the HPS Captains in the School's Workplace Health and Safety Committee This provides staff with a student's perspective on life at Girls Grammar riteroct e InteractOub hashad a-superb forty- first year as one of the School s oldest service groups. With a strong membership of sixty Years 11 and 12 students, it is alive and well within the School community The club kick started the year early, donating a 70 litre container of coffee, tea, sugar and Milo to the The MCIntyre Centre: Riding for the Disabled whose centre at Bellbowrie sustained extensive damage during the January floods. The bulk of members' effort, however, went towards fundraising for the Rotary International initiative End Polio Now. Polio is on the brink of worldwide eradication but still continues to infect and paralyse children in third world countries. The Open Day stall featured a pancake, tea and coffee stall, accompanied by an information display about the elected charity. A lunchtime sausage sizzle proved another successful fundraiser, and the hot chocolate and brownie stalls unashamedly targeted the BGGS affinity for chocolate. The success of the final fundraising event, the 'Blue, Red and Gold' Lucky Dip enabled Interact to raise $3000 for the campaign

in May, the Interact Club hosted a presentation delivered by Ms Jeanette Thornpson, Project Manager of the Free To Be Kids: KOIkota safe- houses in india, Interact's primary charity last year, which protects children who are facing extreme situations of abuse and exploitation Later in the year, the opportunity to volunteer at the Bridge to Brisbane gave us a chance for some more hands-on service We appreciate the proactive and positive attitude of Interact members, particularly the executive of Alexandra Leslie (128), Isabel Scalia (128) and Debbie Lee (12E), and the incredible organisation and commitment of our club co- ordinator, Ms Christopherson, and Rotarian advisor, Mr Hudson I Biza Weder 020) I
