Record fun raising for Ju p Rope for Heart

For twenty years Gramma girls have been skipping their way not only for ra'sing funds for the Heart oundation but just as importantly, bet er health and reduced risk of heart disease This year's Year 8 girls were issued a challenge - as a Y ar level, if we could raise approximately $6,000, then Brisbane Girls Grammar would become the f'rst school in Queensland to raise $100,000 through Jump Rope for H art. o do this we were encouraged to raise $30 each If w were all successful In doing this then we would easily reach the target. Well, we were happy to announce with great pride and much pleasure at the School Assemb y that we rose to the challenge and far exceeded anyone's especially our own exp ctat'ons - we raised a grand total of $12,834.25. Notjust the Year 85 but every student at the School can be proud of this wonderful achievement

Leaders on the rise During Term 111, the Year 11 students are encouraged to begin thinking about Of they haven't already begun to do so) the leadership opportunities, both formal and informal, available to them at the School. Of the myriad leadership positions available to the girls, there are the thirty-two sports captain positions across twenty sports. The Health Studies and Sport faculties work closely to engage all Year I I Health Studies students in activities and discussion designed to encourage reflection on leadership. Activities include analysis of leadership styles, communication and importantly, team-work sessions, including the challenge of constructing tall, stable towers out of newspaper I Students demonstrated. subtly and overtly, their leadership abilities and, of course. observed them in

others through this activity
