Softball There was a positive change for softball at Girls Grammar this year, with the addition of a third Year 8 team increasing the skill-base, not to mention the enthusiasm and energy, within the squad. Despite the rain throughout most of the junior season (Term N 2010), the teamwork and sportsmanship of the girls was outstanding. Even when all seventy-nine girls were huddled together in one corner of the grandstand in Downey Park, cold and wet from running through the pouring rain in Id- way through their games, their smiles never faded and their team spirit was always obvious The senior season in 2011 followed suit and the rain was no less prominent, nor was the passion and enthusiasm of all of the girls. During pre-season holiday training, batting, fielding, pitching, and catching practice provided a great opportunity for the teamwork within the squad to develop. Open and Senior A trainings were held together and the progression was strong and vibrant. A cohesive senior squad was apparent, leading to the many successes by both teams during the short five week season. As with all of the five softball seasons I have taken part in, it will be the team spirit and enthusiasm of the girls which I will remember most

Soiling All Grammar sailors can

commiserate with the poor girl who weekly falls into the water on the ramp. The identity of that girl may vary f rom week to week, but all sailors have fallen at least once, to the amusement and great merriment of their peers and any nearby parents. Any one of those girls can tell you that the water at eight o'clock on a Sunday morning is very cold

The sailing season in 2011 started off with unfortunate weather Regardless, the Sailing team spent an enjoyable three weekends doing an assortment of drills and theory before the start of a two week fleet racing competition. The sailors performed very well on both February race days. in one of the races, skipper Harriet Shannon (11 H) and her crew Josephine Roe (100) finished third out of a possible thirty-four boats. This is an incredible achievement when you take into consideration that any sailor of secondary school age can compete and that many of the sailors who entered normally race in the A division and some even coach for the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS)I Our newest sailors Mietta Dunglison (8G) and Imogen Be han-Willett (9H) injected enthusiasm and vigour into our group. The end of season barbeque demonstrated the cohesive ness of the group both on and off the water
