A few years ago, it may have been easy to overlook the small Girls Grammar fencing community. However, at the end of the 2011 season there can only be one conclusion: the profile of Girls Grammar Fencing is growing. Fast. While the prospect of willingly engaging in an armed duel with a weapon of your choice (Foil, Epee or Sabre - take your pick) may strike fear into the hearts of many, Girls Grammar fencers have yet again prevailed in a season riddled with success

14-hill training session at Cross Country Camp at Marrapatta, or when our leading Year 95 kept running and won despite getting lost at the State High Meet. The Years 8.9 and 10 squads served as the dedicated engines of the group both in school and holiday sessions. The Year 125 pulled together as a cohort, ending on a high for both official and boisterous unofficial runners. On the day of QGSSSA, the final year at Limestone Park, IPswich, it was the Tinker bell bracelet around the girls' wrists and the Grammar blue heart that served to remind all runners of the supporting team that was behind us. We know that the girls exhibited their absolute commitment on the day as after their final, adrenaline fuelled sprints, and no one crossed the line with a drop of energy or the ability to speak coherently, leading to us winning the QGSSSA Championship for the eighteenth year in a row. When looking at the trophy presentation photos later a coach commented that we actually looked like we were in a musical. .. all that joy and all that Disney must have had its effect Stay classy girls

teams were definite stand outs, both achieving first place in their respective divisions. A definite milestone of the 2011 season was Grammar's success in the National School Teams Championships Girls Grammar dominated this nationwide tournament, achieving a clean sweep of all three weapons and winning the trophy for the second consecutive year 2011 was a milestone for the Girls Grammar fencing squad Thanks to the dedication of our co- ordinator Mr Creese and coaches, Grammar Fencing reached new heights over enjoyable and highly successful season
