During Term I and Term IV, girls trained every Sunday on Moreton Bay, with the assistance of coaches Miss Wardell (Head Coach), Miss Flutter, Miss McLean, Miss Anna Patterson (2002) and Miss Higgs. All sailors are incredibly grateful for the passion and dedication these coaches displayed throughout the year. celebrated the season in the inaugural combined Softball and Cricket Dinner. The Senior A team are to be highly commended on their undefeated QGSSSA victory. All girls in the team contributed significantly to this outstanding result and the upcoming year groups should admire their enthusiasm and determination to reach this goal.
The 2006/2007 Girls Grammar Softball season revealed some amazing talent, true dedication and team spirit. The season started with the junior competition in Term IV last year. The players have all shown true dedication and talent which fielded the maximum of 8 teams for the School, with three out of the six junior teams winning the premiership. These teams were the 10A, 9B and 8B. Although the Open team gained fifth place, the end result did not accurately reflect the ability of the team, and with the majority of these players returning next year, there is an opportunity to improve. In January our own Invitational Meet was held at the Valley Pool with more than 100 swimmers the impact of the Girls Grammar blue showed other schools that we were a squad that was determined to perform well this year. The Annual Interhouse Swimming carnival was held at Chandler in March. Amidst the colour and excitement of the day, some wonderful swimming was on show. Congratulations to Helen Singer (11M) who won the 50m Freestyle Championship and the Interhouse Swimming Championship. a win against a formidable enemy, displayed great passion for the game and were able to form strong friendships within and transcending teams and Year levels creating a team environment. The highly successful nature of this season is not only evident in our outstanding results but also in the amount of team spirit and atmosphere that was floating around. Over this season the enthusiasm of the squad and each individual girl has been absolutely sensational, strengthening the bonds of friendship and creating a better outcome for each team. A small band of merry supporters were attracted into our midst and we even collected a few regulars over the course of the season. The atmosphere at the matches was sensational to be a part of and will inevitably continue to grow with each new season as the
Worthy Opponents
Girls Grammar Soccer had an amazing season this year in which we have proven ourselves to be worthy opponents despite it being merely our second year in the QGSSSA competition. The girls upheld the school spirit and enthusiasm that was displayed last year to come out at the end of the season with fabulous results and great friendships. The Open team placed fourth improving on last year’s fifth, the Senior A team placed third, defeating intimidating

team had been building towards — demonstrating how hard they had been working with some brilliant swims recorded on the day. Overall 57 personal bests were recorded by Grammar girls — an amazing effort by all swimmers. At the end of the day Brisbane Girls Grammar School placed third behind Moreton Bay College and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School. With a continued positive and determined attitude Girls Grammar swimming will remain a dominant force at QGSSSA.
Coach began one of the most successful seasons of swimming in recent history. Miss Easey and Miss Sharpless breathed new life into the squad and had all girls training harder and with more determination to achieve their best. The eighth Swimming Camp was again held at the Sports Super Centre, Runaway Bay in January 2007. Here we welcomed the newest members of the squad — the Year 8s. The squad also welcomed a couple of new swimmers in the senior level, who
