kitchen on Open Day with the traditional hot potato stall, earning a record-breaking $2,764.15 under the leadership of the soon-to-be-senior Year 11 House group. “Open Day was a massive success! With the support of the entire House behind us we managed to produce something really amazing.” Margaux Creagh (11H) A Year 12 initiative was to ‘create the bonds’ within the House in 2007 with the formation of ‘vertical house groups’ containing girls from all year levels. Hirschfeld’s motto is Nil Sine Spirite – nothing without spirit, which combined
with our playful mascot Tigger are instrumental in shaping our orange experience at Grammar. 2007 started off with a big ROAR with Hirschfeld’s annual House Party and the induction of our new Year 8s into the greater sea of orange. The afternoon served as the epitome of everything tiggerific: music, games, delicious food and girls dressed in every electrifying shade of orange. It was the perfect opportunity for the House to reaffirm the bonds between groups after the summer break and of course to forge new ones! This Hirschfeldian camaraderie is the very foundation of the House with the Interhouse events throughout the year an enthusiastic means of strengthening these friendships as we bind together in a Herculean effort to be the loudest, brightest and most spirited at each carnival. “It’s the atmosphere: the cheering and the support even if you’re not winning that makes Hirschfeld the best.” Gabriella Shields (9H) Hirschfeld are however, experts at fundraising and this year we stormed the
these groups the girls competed in various games and activities, overall tightening the bonds across the Hirschfeld. “It’s good to get together and hear from the older girls’ advice for decisions for our future.” Shweta Nimkar (10H)
For the departing Year 12s, our fondest memories of Grammar are all plastered with the furry orange spirit of Hirschfeld and the Tiggerific bonds we have formed both within and between Year levels. Enthusiastic Interhouse Athletic, Swimming, Cross Country and choir days, scrumptious pancake breakfasts and weekly house meetings blend together to make up that unique Hirschfeld Grammar flavour.
