The night drew to a close with the presentation of gifts to our indispensable music staff who inspire us with our fabulous music-making. Every year the music programme holds a final Carols Concert for the girls, their families and local members of the community. It is a lovely way to finish the year on a high note. Everyone involved takes time out to de-stress and participate in some festive fun. The night was enjoyed by all, with candles swaying to the sound of ‘Away in a Manger.’ This year has marked a very special time in all of our schooling and musical endeavours. It has been our pleasure as the Music Captains of 2005 to lead this group of talented young musicians. Their friendly relationships across year levels perpetuate the co-operation of the music groups within the School. We wish Grammar musicians the very best for years to come. students from around Australia. Rehearsals under international directors were intense and the final concert at Melbourne TownHall was an unforgettable musical and social experience. For many senior musicians, the Gala Concert represents the culmination of five years of high school music. In the spectacular ambience of Brisbane City Hall, the uplifting performance featured Big Band, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Chamber Singers, Grammar Singers and the delightful Johnson sisters. Another wonderful occasion in the School’s calendar was the Annual Music Dinner to celebrate the work of our young women through their musical lives at Grammar. The Year 12s were welcomed to an exquisite banquet provided by the Year 11s and the Music Support Group who went out of their way to make the night memorable.
