Georgia Bright 112Gj was privileged to be one of three Senior students selected nationally to interview the Deputy Prime Minister Mr John Anderson. The interview was part of the International River Health Conference held late October 2003 in Mildura and was also streamed live on the web. Mr Anderson was quizzed regarding the Federal Governments plan to return water to the alling MurrayDarling system and how to balance the competing agricultural and environmental needs for

the area both now and in the future. This was an excellent opportunity for Georgia to apply work that had been studied in Geography earlier in the year regarding river catchments and sustainable use of water Georgia recalled that she "gained an insight into the complex issue of the MurrayDarling basin. It was fantastic meeting with 800 students and teachers at the Conference who had a common interest and goal. The experience has broadened my knowledge of how important river catchments are to Australians and I am considering studying environmental law after Senior. "
