LIL EY THE CULTURE

tadpoles wowed the opposition with their skills and eagerness, showing just how good 'green' is. The physical aptitude and vocal assault infected the rest of the Housejust in time for Inter house Swimming. Like true frogs to ponds, the girls descended on the pool wearing their green caps, tutus and even stylish 1960s swimming costumes with pride, singing much loved war cries with deafening passion. Annabelle Ka rrasch, Anna Hill, Emma Gregg, Anna Taylor and Sarah Shand were the stars of the day winning their freestyle relay for the fifth consecutive year. Other outstanding performances came from Anna Rathie and Melissa Sharpless In much the same style, Lilley proved to be the School's most ardent House. At the Inter house Cross Country held in March. Lilley had the most participants regardless of the fact that most girls were caught up in the hype and rehearsals of Inter house Drama. Whilst our athletes worked on their long distance times, others worked hard on rehearsing Dags, the Lilley House entry in the Inter house Drain a Competition. Drama Ca ptain s Michele de Plater and Prudence Healey worked tirelessly to organise and rehearse the phenomenal Iy gifted cast including Madeline Maguire, Kate Hawkins, Matet Lester and narrator Annabel Humphreys All the girls are to be congratulated on their Gold Award winning performance Next on the calendar was Inter house Athletics. A green haze descended on ANZ Stadium as Lilley girls came out in full force to confirm that they didn't simply belong in the pond. House Sports Captain and Vice Captain, Lauren Harelampou and Jennifer Cook, ran around not only on the track but also organising races. Consequently, a Lillian participated in almost every event, a tremendous feat in itself. A special mention must be made of Sauliloa Taufa, Amelia Gorrie, Louise Mantizky and Petraea Jansons whose efforts on the day were fantastic. Still it was the Year 115 that again showcased unflagging

Their second hand bookstall raised a fantastic amount for Lilley's adopted cause, Surf Lifesaving. it is still unclear whether it was the quality of literature on offer or their spruiking which achieved such a nota ble result. Nonetheless, their efforts are much appreciated. Before the school Year drew to a close there was one more inter house event to display Lilley passion, the Choral Competition. Choir Captains, Alexandra Dyer and Genevieve Blanch, chose the chart-topping hit Love Song to provide Lilley with the best chance of defending their Choral title For Lilley House 2003 will be a year to remember. Even on a weekly basis we were having fun together. Our House Assemblies were filled with trivia competitions, sing-a- longs. delicious pancakes or pastry breakfasts, guest speakers, presentations, games, and dancing. We'd like to thank our joyful Head of House, Ms Cowen and our House Group Teachers, Ms Edwards, Mrs Carroll, Mrs Arici, Ms Chadwick and Mr SCOthern. Their help was invaluable and the Year wouldn't have been nearly as successful without them. To ou r exceptionally close Yet departing Year 12 House Group, your friendship, enthusiasm and constant support over the past five years has made our time at Brisbane Girls Grammar School unforgettable. You are the most amazing group of girls and it has been a privilege to know you. Thank you for all the memories. We wish our seniors the best of luck in the future just as we wish Lilley House many more successful, green-filled Years to come The girl may leave Lilley but Lilley Spirit will never leave the girl Nicola Walsh and Genevieve Blanch House Captain and Vice Captain

"It s great to be part of something, but it's even better to be a part of Lilley" 12 Lilley can honestly say that leading Lilley House in 2003 has been both an honour and an absolute pleasure. To look out over House Assemblies and Inter house Events and see such an amazing group of kind, enthusiastic, cohesive and spirited girls is something we will all miss once we move on to bigger ponds. As we hang up our green tights, to 95 and tutus for the final time, what comes to mind is the enthusiasm, involvement and humour that have filled the past Year. Perhaps it was the first day of school that set the tone. Desperate to welcome the newest breed of tadpoles onto the Lilley pad, Year 12 organised an 8112 Lunch filled with games, gifts, 1011ies and an overwhelming supply of the esteemed Freddo Frogs Laughter filled the air and sugar filled stomachs as Year 8 became more than aware of the strength of the Lilley Spirit However it was the bang of balloons, metres of green material, frog masks and green body paint that allowed the rest of the House to show off their spirit at the House Party. Not even persistent rain could stop Lillian's from decking themselves out in the season's grossest and most extravagant green costumes. Neither could it stop them from jumping around in potato sacks, screaming new found war cries or consuming copious amounts of green cordial. The Miss Lilley competition was an early sign of the extent of Liiley talent. Despite extremely tough competition from da ricers, thespians, musicians and balloon animal entrepreneurs it was Emily Adams of 9 Lilley that managed to claim the coveted cape The House Yet again voiced their spirit when the Year 85 participated in the Inter house Volleyball competition.
