Weidmann, Sophie Be reins, Rachael Holt and Amy Cook accompanied by the Head of the German Department, Mrs D. Barker, travelled to Essen where they were hosted by students from our sister school, Maria- Wachtler Schule. Exciting day trips and excursions included Cologne, Dasseldorf and a weekend in Berlin where they saw many historical landmarks including the Berlin Wall and the Reichstag (Parliament House). Their experiences in German family and school life were of great benefit to their an uisition of ian ua e and cultural knowledge. They were very glad for the opportunity to reciprocate the kindness of their host sisters upon their arrival in Brisbane later in August-September. Our six visitors from Maria-W6chtler Schule participated in various class lessons at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, went sight- seeing and enjoyed the mild winter. They also experienced the real Australian outback and were pleased to have acquired a richer knowledge of the Australian way of life. in September, ten students from Years 11 and 12 French visited our sister school in An gou16me, France, staying with local families, attending classes, sightseeing and continuing the tradition of our sister school programme which now celebrates Its 25th Year We look forward to a full programme of contact and eXchange with our five Sister Schools in 2004
