Kyra BartleY, Joanna Hoskings, Claire Howard and Eleanor Wainwright are to be congratulated for their selection in the Under 16 Metropolitan North Team. and Gemma Deal, toura Kidd, Elizabeth MCLellan, KirbY Short and Nicola Walsh were selected in the Open division. The further honour of representing Queensland was bestowed upon Open team members Carmel Ahern. Coached by past student, Jayde Tilney, the Senior B Team were undefeated throughout the aGSSSA season. All team members demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment and a love for their sport, and are congratulated on their dedication Under the guidance of coach, Makia Waters, 1998 captain, the Senior A Team, despite a shaky start. won seven of their nine games to place second. All girls played strongly throughout the season and a special mention must go to Shehara Mendis. for completing her fifth Year of Grammar Volleyball. the only 2002 team member to achieve this milestone The BGGS Open team's season proved a huge success, finishing as undefeated premiers for the second consecutive Year. without losing a set to any opponent This superb result in a highly competitive 0655SA competition was made possible by consistent and capable performances by all team members. and the direction provided by coach, Mr Ron Mackay. Six new players, Calmel Ahern, Matilda Gunn, Lauren Hadampou. Claire Howard. toura Kidd and Matet Lester showed 00 sign of inexperience. demonstrating Impressive ability and adjusting quickly to the new level of competition. Experienced Open Team members Gemma Deal, Kirby Short, Nicola Walsh and Elizabeth MCLellan helped the rookies along. and a strong bond was quickly developed within the team From 2 - 4 August, the Open team competed in the Queensland Volleyball Schools' Cup Tournament held in Toowoomba. The team participated in the Open Girls Honours Division. the most challenging division of the tournament
