The Magic Clones The midday sun beat down upon the green Lumbagan meadows. Anieh stood with his army peers, their bows drawn. arrows pulled back. Their captain, Garfelt, barked orders "Ready. aim. FIRE!" Over a hundred arrows flew through the air and found their targets. Princess Reema nodded approvingly as she strolled up and down the lines, her beautiful diamond necklace hanging from her neck. The army was more of a part-time than a necessary item to the Lumbagan people. Its skills hadn't been needed for centuries In a bordering country, separated from Lumbaga by a wall that had never been crossed, another army was training. Deep within the fire pits of Yentrioc, this army was training hard for combat. Nabbois, the wariord, strutted around importantly "Come on, men! To win this You're going to have to run faster, jump higher and scream louder than You've ever done before. "

"Yeah!" answered the soldiers "Well, come on then!! Let's go!" And with that. the mass charged toward the Lumbagan wall

The Lumbagans were lounging on the grass when they heard a shout "Enemy , come quick!" gasped the sentry An Ieh ran with the rest of the crowds to grab his bow and arrows and headed for the wall

The two armies reached the wall at the same time. The battle that ensued was fast and brutal. The Yentriocs were far too strong for the casually trained Lumbagans The weaker army retreated. Once safely behind the wall, Anieh helped attend to the wounded. He knew that the wall could not hold out this enemy for long. He stopped dead when he saw that Garfelt had been injured "An Ieh, You must listen, " he whispered weakly. "A long time ago, an army much like this one invaded. They were defeated by the only means possible. Their wariord wears

a diamond around his neck. it must be destroyed. " "But how?" pleaded Anieh. But Garfelt did not answer

That night, Anieh sat in the quietened camp, thinking. How could he destroy a diamond? Diamond was the hardest substance on Earth. The only thing that could even scratch a diamond was "Of course, another diamond!" Content with th's thought, Anieh fell into a deep but fretful sleep Anieh woke before dawn. He crept quietly out of camp to avoid alerting the sentries. He unlocked the gate that was set in the wall. and as he tiptoed toward the enemy camp. it swung quietly shut behind him He spotted Nabbois' tent at once. it was heavily guarded; however, he was a good warrior and knew what to do. He ran toward the sentries. Half were asleep and the other half were so surprised, that by the time they reacted, Anieh was inside. He spotted the necklace hanging upon the wall and ran toward it. He grabbed it and sprinted as fast as he could out the other side and towards the wall, where he scuttled through the gate Once back inside the camp, he headed directly for the royal tent. The idea had come to him in the night and seeing this necklace now proved It. This diamond was exactly the same as the one Princess Reema wore. It couldn'tjust be a coincidence. He rushed inside the tent without offering an explanation and grabbed the gem. Then, bringing his two hands together, he joined the stone with its clone. All at once a blinding white light emanated from the stones. The light filled the camp and a deafening roar penetrated Anieh's ears. Just as suddenly as it had started, it subsided

Anieh ran to the top of the wall. The enemy camp was in tatters and the men were nowhere to be seen. Anieh had done it He had saved his land and his people
