The Kirsten Jack Memorial Leukaemia Committee The Kirsten Jack Memorial Leukaemia Committee was established over twenty years ago in memory of Kirsten Jack, a student of Girls Grammar who died from Leukaemia in 1977. it is the Committee's main focus to raise money and awareness to support the research and treatment of Leukaemia at the Royal Children's Hospital. With that focus in mind, this year has been an exciting year for the Committee, one where the dedicated and spirited teamwork of members has led to success in both fundraising and generating awareness of the condition The year began with a Valentine's Day fundraiser, selling approximately 1200 long-stemmed loses and raising just over $1 000. This is a perpetual fundraiser that is held each year and we would like to thank Cedarvale Roses for their continuing support, which is greatly appreciated During second term, the Committee was busy baking many cakes, biscuits and other treats for their'Cakes and Biscuits Stall' The stall was a great success, with every item sold before the conclusion of the lunch hour Thank you to all the girls who contributed to the stall, and also to
those who supported the fundraiser by purchasing the treats Third term saw a unique fundraiser held by Lilley House, which showcased various staff wedding dresses. The event was extremely interesting and gave many girls the opportunity to experience part of a different era. Many thanks must go to Lilley House for donating half the profits to the Cerebral Palsy League, Queensland and half to the Leukaemia Committee The work of the Leukaemia Committee has touched most Grammar Girls in some way Whether they bought loses on Valentine's Day, purchased sweets at morning tea orlunch, viewed the wedding dress showcase, or visited the Leukaemia Committee stall at Expo 2001, all girls have been a part of the fantastic success the Committee so thoroughly pursues Of course, this success would not have been possible without the support of Mrs Hancock, Ms Forster, Ms 0'5ullivan, and the commitment of all the girls on the Committee We thank all these people, and wish the Leukaemia Committee best of luck un 2002
