2001 saw the end of an era, as well as the beginning of a new sport at Brisbane Gir s Grammar Schoo. Judith Hancock has supported sport in this school for 25 years, overseeing our QGSSSA commitment from nine sports w'th 36 teams to twelve sports with 92 teams. During this time, sport has seen improved facilities, both on and off the campus, payment of both coaches and co-obinators, the formation of the Sports Management Committee, and the introduction of new sports, the most recent being Touch in 2000, the final Year 12 Health and Physical Education assignment topic was the issue of female drop-out in sport. It came as no surprise that Girls Grammar experienced an outstanding participation and retention rate when compared to the nat'on al figures. The school strives to have maximum participation where each student 15 encouraged to achieve her personal best. This attitude is reinforced and made achievable when the Principal supports these Ideals both in a concrete and philosophical manner. Girls are provided with tangible role models and examples through "old girl"coaches and co-ordinators, photographic displays, newspaper articles and acknowledgement of their achievements To provide another avenue for participation, the School introduced Touch, entering two teams into the QGSSSA competition in March. This sport has enjoyed its second official QGSSSA season and we look forward to an increased number of teams and experience in the future under the new co-obinator of the sport, Neil Davissen
