2000 School Magazine
year I I
They say time flies when you're having fun ... and that's just what this year's Year I I has done. After three years of the junior school, we took on senior school with style. Despite all the little traumas of two-hour exams, three- month assignments and decisions on who to take (or not to take) to the semi-formal, the year 2000 has been fun-filled and enjoyable. Year 11 really started with our first Year Assembly, when we all came together as a group to face the year ahead. It was here that we learnt what to expect from the school during the year ... and what the school would expect from us. 'Cohesion' was the word - and we heard it over and over again. But it must have sunk in, because soon we found ourselves as no longer just a group of individual girls, but a grade; one that had opinions, imagination and a great sense of fun. We continued through the first term (and the first exam block), until suddenly there was one word on our minds - semi-formal! Months of planning and co- ordination went into this event and the whole year level really appreciated the efforts of the girls on the committee and Mrs MCConaghy. We must also thank Mrs Hancock for allowing us to have this special night. Everything was beautiful, from the decorations to the dresses, to the girls themselves. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and we're sure that we all have some very special memories from that night.

This year our grade welcomed some new faces and, in particular, two eXchange students who will each stay with us for a year. Erika Chatanijoined 11 Hirschfeld in April, and Anna Schwickart became a member of I I Gibson in July. Both girls have settled into the Grammar lifestyle and we will miss them when they leave us next year. Term Three was greeted with fun and enjoyment with time in Year Assemblies being spent on games such as Pass the Parcel and The Chocolate Game. This went hand in hand with the Year 12 theme of the term - Actlike o Chi7d - which helped to bring the grade even closer. The unique aspect about our year level is that we are a diverse and outgoing group of girls who are ready to take on the challenges of being the Year 125 of 2001.
