boarders

Special mention must also be made of the achievements of girls in the boarding house. Congratulations go to Louise Cottone for being a part of the Queensland Youth Orchestra, Petrina O'Dempsey for her performance in an Eisteddfod, Annabelle Vaughan for the Amnesty Poetry competition and Jes Hyne on her acceptance as a Rotary eXchange student. Jes will be leaving for Denmark at the end of this year. After all this, it is obvious that although the boarding house now lacks numbers, our spirit, sense o fun and enthusiasm have never left us. This was obvious at the Brisbane Grammar Boarders Dance on 19 August. We have had a great year: early morning wake ups by the leaf blower; early Saturday morning fire alarms; agonising over 'Permission Slips' when we still had no idea of what we would be doing on the weekend; Common Room duty and the unmentionable bins; keeping our cubicles clean and how many bickies we could score at supper at night. All in all, we can safely admit that despite minor hiccups, we will all miss boarding life and each other, once the time comes to say goodbye. To the Year 10s and 115, we wish you the best of luck for your years left at Grammar. Don't forget to breathe and smile, and believe us, the timejust flies by!
