The B grade's efforts inspired the A grade gymnasts, competing that evening. This competition included both pairs and groups. BGGS entered a pair in each apparatus: rope, hoop, clubs and ribbon;two ball pairs;and a five-person group using the set apparatus of three balls and two ribbons. The evening began with the A grade groups, a new concept for 2000. With incredible nervousness but apparent confidence, the A grade group (Kylie Hardcastle, Johannah Cage, Kate Lilley, Katelyn Peffer and Jessica Wilkie with Danielle Gregory as reserve) stepped out onto the floor to compete and performed an extravagant routine. Almost all went to plan, even though Kate happened to break her finger in two places during the three minutes of warm-up! The BGGS group routine showed precision and exquisite technique, but placed second by a narrow 0.05 to a faultless St Peter's group. The A grade pairs followed the group and their level of performance was magnificent and stunning, leaving the other schools in awe of their talent. Claire Corones and Am anda Cheales placed first in the rope category with a jazzy routine. The hoop pair of Nicky-Lee Hew and Celia Corones executed a dazzling routine
