Term Three opened with the Interhouse Choral Competition, a great event in which many of the girls participated with much enthusiasm. The competition was won by Beanland House this year, led by their Choral Captains Alexandra Gasteen and Georgina Pearce, with their hearty rendition of I've Had the Time of my Life. With beautiful solos from vocal extraordinaires Mr Bruce Addison (aka. Head of the Economics Department) and Caroline Hendry, they rightfulIyimpressed adjudicator Mrs Shelli Huicombe, to whom many thanks must go for her time and expert advice. Another exciting musical event of the year was the wonderful Philhormonic ond Friends - From Classroom to ConcertHoll. Twelve of our musicians were fortunate to be involved in this project, in which four schools - Brisbane Grammar School, Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Ferny Grove State High School and Brisbane State High School - were given the chance to rehearse and work with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra in a series of workshops and rehearsals which began in May of this year. CUIminating in two magnificent performances in the QPAC Concert Hall on 11 August, this project was an unforgettable experience for allthoseinvolved. Sincere thanks must go to the members of the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra for their time and guidance and the fantastic opportunity to play alongside musicians of their calibre.
