An innovative concert format - the May Music Concert Series - was held on I4, 2I and 28 May in the Auditorium This exciting musical trilogy provided performance opportunities for groups spanning Grammar's broad musical spectrum. Instead of being separated according 10 standard, junior, intermediate and senior bands, choirs, orchesiras and ensembles combined 10 present 3 nights of musical pleasure

The series enabled parents 10 hear the progress o1 each group and encouraged students 10 be a recepiive audience. in addition, the concerts raised funds 10 support the Music Department The first concert had a symphonic and choral flavour, with performances from the Year 8 Classroom Choir, Ensemble Spirito, Wind Ensemble, Grammar Chorale and Symphonic Winds. The Chorale's performance of a Foilesi Gump medley was thoroughly enjoyable, as evident in the enthusiastic audience participation Concert 2, in an unusual but undoubtedly inspired move, teamed Big Bands and siring groups. The lineup incladed Chamber Orchestra, Corelli Strings, Stage Band, Blondenburg Strings and Big Band The final instalment o1 the Concert Series began w'Ih the Vocal Ensemble, followed by Albinoni Strings and Concert Bond. The Year I I Octet, the Grammareiies, added some spark and fun 10 the evening with their renditions o1 Steppin' Oui with my Baby and The Shoop Shoop Song. The Symphony Orchestra drew the concert to a suibbly triumphant close with lean SIbelius' Finlandia The May Music Concert Series, a successful blending of the diverse talents of Grammar musicians, certainly maintained, if not elevated, the high standards of the Brisbane Girls Grammar Music Program
