The BGGS gt, '15 at Mintsbi, ?g
Our introduction to the vibrant Bavarian capital, Munich, began with shopping on the Marienplatz and viewing the Glockenspiel at midday. We continued with a visit to the German Museum, the largest in Europe, ice-skating at the Olympic Park and a visit to Neuschwanstein, the beautiful castle of King Ludwig H Armed with German gLimmy bears and souvenir beer mugs we travelled by train from Mtinich to Berlin. The city tour of Berlin included the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall and the Egyptian Museum with the statLie of NGfertiti. We also explored the Berlin Zoo and became "patrons" of an ice cream parlour, conveniently near the youth hostel
Our last week was spent with host families in Trier. We felt very welcomed by the community as we met the town's mayor and attended classes at the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium. The history of the oldest city in Germany was admired as we visited the Amphitheater (amphitheatre), the Kaiserthe Tmen (Roman baths) and the cathedral, which houses Christ's holy tunic. A pleasant cruise on the Rhine and a visit to Marksburg castle concluded our last week in Germany So, with many new stories and a wider German vocabulary we departed from Frankfurt on 7th July. Our trip was a wonderful experience and the memories we have are certainly evidence of this. We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Barker most sincerely for their organization and support, which ensured the success of the 1998 German study tour
