Queensland, from Tarong Power Station to SITadbroke Island. We went down mines, processed, smelted, cast, cut and polished our own copper pendants and participated in lectures on subjects from engineering to physics. But it was not all work, witl} a night at Amazons, movies, discos, sport, bands and theatre sports as well as numerous late night trips into town. Overall the Australian Student Min- eral Venture proved to be a fantastic experience which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone

spend two weeks living in a college at the University of Queensland with forty other teenagers? This is how I spent my last summer holidays. There is, of course, a purpose to these weeks. The Australian Student Mineral Venture is a program aimed at giving a number of students a greater insight into the fields of science and engineering, specifically in the min- ing industry. in order to gain this experi- ence we travelled all around South-east
