and playing for the squad teams Sasha is looking forward to playing in the Australian School Girls team in the Tri-Nation series which is to be held in December. Competitions such as the Tri Nations series are costly and there- fore fundraising is involved. The girls raise money by holding raffles and setting chocolates, but their parents stillhave to meet most of the cost Sasha leads a very hectic life- style. Sasha in these squads are two girls currently in Year Twelve at Brisbane Girls Grammar. 10die Taylor is in the under 175 and under 20s squad and CarolynJohnson is in the under 17s squad There are also two past students, Nikita Cuffe and Dafuelle West, who are competing at high levels. Nikita Cuffe is in the ATS squad, Australian Open squad and the under 20s squad DanieUe West is in the under 20s squad Playing in these teams is not all fun, because as well as playing games, there are five traitting sessions a week at the Queensland Intensive Training Centre. These trailting sessions are gruelling and don't guarantee a position in the team. Every time the teams play only sixteen girls are picked from the squad to compete. Water polo is played throughout the year and therefore Sasha plays club water polo when she is not travelling
she trains, she also competes in other school sport. At school Sasha plays water polo, volleyball and basketball and also does athletics and swimrning. As well as playing basketball at school Sasha is in the Brisbane Team which plays games against teams from all over Queensland While juggling her Year Twelve study coriumtments with water polo, Sasha has set herself some goals. These goals include being chosen for the Australian under 20s team, making the ATS squad and in the long term competing at the 2004 Olympic Games for water polo Sasha, past, present and future students will be watching your progress. Best of luck to you.

The future holds many more prospects The Australian team will be travelling over seas next year, and having reached such a high level during high school, this win no doubt be the first of many exciting jour- neys on which Jayde will embark over the next few years. After so much success, Jayde's down-to-earth nature and genuine love for her sport are still obvious, and make it all the more satisfying to see her achieving so well Jayde's message to her fellow Grainmar girls is simple but significant: believe in yourself. it has certainly worked for her, and we wish her the best of luck as she continues to succeed.
school's major sports achievers in 1998 After beginning voneybaU at Grammar in Year Eight and being placed in the A-Grade team as early as Year Nine, Jayde has also become involved in state and national coin- petitions.
