it has been a pleasing and successful season, and as a fitting end to this season, current coach and past captain of Water Polo, Nildta Cuffe, was granted an Ms Scholarship for Water Polo The crazy Grammar CRICKETERS were back at it again for the 97-98 season, with many new faces filling the ranks. The large numbers of enthusiastic girls who attended trials ensured that the brand new Fourth xi would have an exciting season Training began earlier than usual with trials in Term Three 1997 Four reams were selected and the season swung into action, as once again Grammar dominated the field. The First xi was aided by the return of Hannah Murray for the start of the season. as her bowling and batting were a consistent boost to the team performance. The Firsts showed their dominance, ending term four as competition leaders. Sally Lobrisch returned to the Firsts and made her presence felt with strong batting and bowling performances. Vice-captain Alex Hatris had her first opportunity to lead the Firsts and, despite some nervous moments, performed well. Through the combined efforts of the team and thanks to great bowling by Clare KernLy and Calmope Labusis, the Firsts progressed to the semifinals In dramatic circumstances, the Firsts had to replay the semifinal after the first semi was a tied game. Unfortunately, they lost the second time around, but the vocal support from the cross- country runners and the cheersquad made the afternoon very enjoyable Grammar's deptl\ of talent ensured that good results were achieved in the Seconds, Thirds and Fourths. Special mention must go to the captain of the Second XI, Alex Downs. Thanks to her innovative approach to training, the Seconds had a great season. Friday afternoon training seemed more often to consist of pool parties and chocolate feasts than hard training, how- ever, they inList have trained at some point as their results demonstrated. Louise CoUey should also be mentioned for her consistently good batting in the top order, as she scored many vital runs thi'oughout the season
