SIR SAMUEL WALKER GRIFFITH PRIZE This prize commemorates the great contribution to public life and to the Grammar Schools of Sir Samuel Walker Griffith and is awarded to a student who has exhibited merit in at least two Social Science subjects, has demonstrated good citizenship and has worked to improve the welfare of others. KATE ACHILLES First given in 1941 by Mr J E Broadbent, a member of the Board of Trustees for many years, in memo1y of his father. It is awarded for the best essay in a Natural Hist01y subject. It is awarded for the highest achievement in Ancient and Modern Histo1y in Year 12.
