Ski Trip

F rom 21st to 26th of September, the Grammar Skibunnies descended on Perisher Blue Resort in the Snowy Moun- tains of New South Wales. From the Monday morning to the Friday lunchtime, we skied the slopes by day and partied by night around the fabulous ping-pong and pool tables of the Man From Snowy River Resort. Although we had our fair share of pros, for most of us it was ur first experience on skis. For one beginner group, inexpe- ri ence counted little as they whizzed down runs with class. The olher beginner group's first experiences were characterised by their trip to the top of Back Perisher Mountain on the morning or the second day. They realised that the run was not as easy nor as flat as it had looked from the chairlift and were forced to slide down half the mountain on their bottoms.

Overall, it was five days of fun, sun, snow, slush, stacks and, for some, sunburn. We learnt how to snowplough our way down a mountain successfully, jump, catch and dismount from the deadly T-bars and chairlifts (usually more difficult than the slopes), and do all those tricky things that ski people do thanks to our lovely ski instructors . They certainly made our lessons more attractive, with one group being lucky enough to be accompanied by "God", a.k.a. Andy. Thanks go to our four chaperones, Miss Dare, Ms O'Sullivan, Mrs Edwards and Mrs Orme, who accompanied us on the trip. It was certainly a memorable experience. CLAIREGOBE
