Pip and Fiona brought out the best in us and we were rewarded with a tied second plac- tng - a fantastic effort. The Interhouse Gym- nastics Competition gave the Eagles another chance to demonstrate their amazrng talents. 1 995 proved to be I u u"ry busy and eventful year for Eng- land House, one that I am sufe all Eagles en- joyed. \fe started the year off with ourHouse BBQ. The afternoon consisted of lots of activities, such as a scavengef hunt, the Miss England Pageant and, of course, lots of eating. Congratulations to Kafy Toft who attained the coveted title of Miss England for 7995, greatly due to her heart warm- ing rendition of Tbe Lo- comotion. The Interhouse Swim- Champion, and Lyn Raphael, for gaining the 77 years and over Indi- vidual Age Championship. The tireless effort put in by the House enabled us to achieve a third placing overall. Next on the calendar was the Interhouse Drama Competition on the twenty-third and twenty-fourth of March. After weeks of prepara- tion, under the guidance of Penny Stabler, we pre- sented a very entertain- ing and amusing version of The Wiz. The produc- tion consisted of a huge

This year, the Eagles were also kept busy with activities within the House. On the morning of the nineteenth of July, 200 pastries fell prey to the Eagles, both staff and students alike, atthe Eng- land Party. \What better way to celebrate being in England than munching on pain au chocolat, danishes, croissants.... The following week marked the Sister Group Ballgames Competition. The nine sister groups competed against each other in Tunnel Ball, Leader Ball and Captarn Ball. The event helped to strengthen the links within each sister group and a good time was had by all. The final opportunity for the Eagles to demonstrate their exceptional sporting ability was the Interhouse Athletics Com- petition held on the seventeenth of August. We did not let the new venue of Churchie affect our efforts as was shown by a number of outstanding results, Alison O'Dwyer tied for first in

cast from all year levels with every.thing from a lisping lion to exotic poppies. It was an excellent performance enjoyed by both the audience and the actors. Our next cultural delight was the Interhouse Choral Compe- tition and England once again performed exceptionally well. Under the captaincy of Pip \West and Fiona Claus, the choir came together beautifully and sang a very inspiring piece
